parsonstrish,

Great to hear the highs, and for the lows I sympathise as I'm not sure about maintaining status either. I'm going to buy a few lottery tickets and see if that works.

Re: Your personal travel highs and lows of 2007

I've got a new low for the year.

Sydney airport/Qantas baggage handlers (I believe) causing my bag to be lost for around 80 hours. It's only the 2nd time in 3 years that Qantas has lost my bag for more than a couple of hours - but both times have been on Christmas Eve. Of course pretty much right up until I got the call to say my bag was due to be delivered, nobody knew where it was, and suspected it was actually at Heathrow. I love Christmas eve/Christmas day shopping for emergency clothes and toiletries etc.

Why, beacuse of all those X-mas presents of clothes etc, that you can claim on insurance.

Or the crowds that avoid being anywhere near.

Re: Your personal travel highs and lows of 2007

Well it has just snuck in but here it is.

I had to sit in a middle seat!

Saturday (22/12) morning. Off to CBR AP for a trip to MEL to do the family stuff and get it over with for another year. Whilst in the taxi the mobile rings and I miss the call. No biggie it happens.

Arrive at the AP, slide in the QF card and the machine starts having conniptions, eventually prints out something that I need to see the GA. So I present and am told that the flight (0840) is cancelled, the the GA says, you haven't been moved to the next flight, and that this is surprising because you do have some status (SG).

After a couple of minutes of computer checking I am on standby for the 1020 flight and confirmed on the 1255. So present to the desk once the 1020 commences boarding and yes they have a seat but it is in the middle, well I have to get there so middle it is . First time for a very, very long time that I've sat there.

Of course the trip home had its problems as well, I was originally on a flight aout 1530 and it was cancelled so after discussion qith QF went for the 1610 flight. It was about 20 minutes late. Still I got a window exit row so no real hardship.

Let's hope my next person trip (to NRT end of Jan) goes without a hitch. Don't really care about the business trips, that's work.
