Re: Your personal travel highs and lows of 2007

Great travel highs everyone, may 2008 brings bigger, better and bolder travel highs.............and hopefully less travel lows.

ps. winetraveller, you lucky lucky man!! I would (and many would) have traded anything to have that flight next to Scarlett Johansson!

Re: Your personal travel highs and lows of 2007

Highs,
  • Successfully hand birthing 2 of our foals, 1 day apart, where the mothers could not pass them, and without intervention we would have lost all of them.
  • Actually being at home for the above.
  • AONE4 even though it was only 2 weeks, and one of them was spent in Mt Isa
  • Achieving QF LTG
  • Standing in and seeing falling snow for the first time (at Denver)
Lows
  • Working with lazy and incompetent colleagues
  • Waiting in emergency for my wife for over 8 hours
  • Soprano's finishing, and the way it ended
  • Waiting at MEL customs for 1.5 hours

Great ATW trip with my wife and attending Heli Expo in Orlando,
Walking around Edinburgh Castle in a snow storm,
Getting complimentary PC Platinum status and then retaining it,
Meeting Randy Peterson,

Lows:
Getting a text message from BA whilst at Edinburgh Castle to say flight out had been cancelled and then trying to contact them back,

Re: Your personal travel highs and lows of 2007

Highlights:

New York City- vibrant, amazing, energetic!!!

Petting Tigers with the Monks in Thailand

Riding an Elephant and almost not having kids after a baby elephant massage to the groin region in Thailand.

Mount Titlis as we rose through the heavy clouds and fog to the highest point in Central Switzerland and then enjoying the looks on my ex-girlfriend family's face as they played in snow for the first time.

Tubing behind a boat in Arnhem Land when the fish weren't biting.

My first business class experience.

Getting accepted today to study in Montreal next year so now knowing I will definitely get to book the DONE4.

Lowlights:

Coming home from each trip.

Being delayed in BKK after our Jetstar aircraft went AWOL in HNL. Then getting home and waiting four hours in MEL for a QF MEL-BNE flight.

Not sitting next to Scarlett Johannsen on any of my flights.... Or Jen Hawkins for that matter.

Re: Your personal travel highs and lows of 2007

Highs:
  • The spectacular collapse of the private equity buy out deal for QF especially after the sickeningly smug endorsements from Dixon and Jackson
  • The Chateau Beycheville 1996 red in BA F travelling SYD-LHR-SYD
  • Visiting the new SYD F lounge a couple of times
  • A couple of unexpected complimentary on departure upgrades on domestic flights thanks to local QF staff
  • Flying F to the UK on frequent flyer points
  • The OneWorld computer systems awarding me points and SCs for flights I never ended up taking
  • Most QF cabin crew maintaining a welcoming and professional presence (despite the public longue lashings from Geoff et al)
Lows:
  • QF stuffing up a DONE4 booking
  • Departing on Europe bound flights from LHR T4 (priority line and F lounge not open first thing in the morning)
  • Increased price gouging (credit card fees, fees to change paid flexible J flights, etc) by QF
  • The time and expense of travelling to BNE twice (for meetings and looking for rental properties) to secure a contract deal, which fell over at the last minute due to instransigent client lawyers after a "hand shake" deal had already been struck
  • Not sitting next to anyone remotely in the league of Scarlett J
  • Missy H officially "coming out"
