Re: Weirdest aircraft you've flown in?

Flew in my first Fairchild Metroliner 23 last week going to a mine site.

Upon boarding the plane the captain and co-pilot gave us a plastic lunch container with four small sandwiches, an apple and a chocolate. There was an esky near them where you grabbed either a juice, water or soft drink before you boarded the plane.

And what a plane - nary room to swing a kitten, so to speak. Hurt a little bit having to duck all the way through the cabin - and I am a short man (mere 174 cm).

We also received ear plugs upon boarding. Of course I used them - not because I probably couldn't tolerate the noise but as we all know (as vigilant OH&S aware people) listening to that level of noise for 100 minutes is not good for one's ears.

Our take off was actually aborted - as in engines were charged and we were speeding down the runway when suddenly the engines were killed and we taxiied back to terminal. Turns out one of the switches was faulty. It was replaced and we took off normally this time.

And, just like nlagelle, the sway on final approach was something to be noted.

Re: Weirdest aircraft you've flown in?

Passenger:

Puma/Chinook down the East German border (they both made me vomit)

Pilot

Viking MkII Powered Glider - strange feeling intentionally turning off the engine in an aircraft - and then carrying on flying as normal...

Re: Weirdest aircraft you've flown in?

Bit hard to name one:

Blackhawk/FA18 rides while I was a civil ATC, as well as a couple of famil flights in Polair over SYD

P51D & AT6 rides as a teen.

Numerous flights in Nomads (only Australia could put a helicopter engine on a fixed wing aircraft as its main source of thrust).

Weirdest flight I have been on - 4 hour patrol at 100agl in a Caribou over Bass Strait.

Weirdest aviation memory - listening to the concorde talking to flight service as it was too high for controlled airspace, as I watched it paint on my radar like no other civil aircraft paints!

Didn't the BaE146 do something along these lines as well?

737 QF simulator (almost an aircraft!).

Not weird, just really, really cool!
