The totally off-topic thread

I thought perhaps we should start this thread, given the discussion over in My Questions about how we have taken the thread about Forum Software totally off topic.

So here in this thread, you can discuss anything that off-topic (as that's the name of the thread, thus whatever is discussed must actually be on-topic). How about that, never being able to go off-topic and haranged by a Moderator  .

So, it doesn't matter whether you want to talk about avatars, my locked 10K post thread, HP's, buses, whatever...it's all for the posting.

Begin my fellow AFF'ers..it will be interesting to see how this thread grows and evolves...it may be more like a chat room. Can we break the thread page counts and post count???

Nice idea Lindsay.

To be fair, the discussion of avatars and the forum software can be connected with only a short stopover. It's the software that allows the avatars after all...

Good idea Lindsay. Now let's see what can we discuss that is OT.

But I still think that it is more fun to take an actual thread OT.

:?
Methinks we have a bit of an Oxymoron here.

I mean, the moment we try to take this thread OT, our post immediately becomes On Topic! Conversely, if we try to post about the topic of this thread, it immediately contradicts the thread topic!

So you really cannot make an OT post in this thread ....

How do you get your avatar to dance like that?

And sorry to be naive but what is the avatar supposed to be?

Ummm, ok, well how about this?

Women throw undies at dead rabbi

From correspondents in Jerusalem
From: Agence France-Presse
http://www.news.com.au/story/0,10117...-13762,00.html

HUNDREDS of young Israeli women hoping to find themselves a husband have been placing their underwear on the tomb of a venerated rabbi in the hopes that their marriage prayers will be answered.

Would-be Israeli brides leave intimate offering for rabbi. Around 400 pairs of knickers and bras have been collected from the grilles of the tomb's window or on the branches of nearby trees by the authorities charged with preserving the final resting place of Rabbi Yenothan Ben Uziel in the Amuka region of northern Israel, the Maariv daily reported on Sunday.

According to Jewish tradition, anyone who is unmarried will meet their soulmate and marry within a year if they visit his tomb.

However Rabbi Israel Deri, in charge of protecting holy sites in the north, told the paper that the women's prayers would go unanswered.

"Having consulted with the chief rabbis, I can say with certainty that not only are these women guilty of a profanity but they will also never gain benediction," he said.

So to remain off topic, there must be a list of things that are forbidden just in case they being it back on topic for a thread in the AFF forum. Perhaps they include:
  • The mention of aluminium (or composite) tubes held in the sky by anti-gravitational forces
  • The mention of programs aimed at targeting people to hand over their money in exchange for the services of a specific provider, usually by rewarding the exchange of large amounts of money
  • The mention of semi-private waiting areas where one can indulge in sustenance of both liquid and solid forms, often also including personal hygiene facilities
  • Discussion of the amount (volume and/or weight) of personal affects that can be temporarily provided to a transportation organisation for the purpose of carriage to another location
  • The ability of obtain free or discounted goods or services in exchange for continued swiping of a particular rectangular piece of plastic while visiting procurement establishments
  • The mention of multi-wheeled vehicular terrestrial transportation for people between mining communities of Western Australia

Just about anything else would be on-topic for this off-topic thread.

Great so we can talk about the bus as long as

the bus is not held up in the sky, and
there are no armed hold ups of the bus, and
the bus has public toilets or none at all, and
the baggage carried on the bus is discreet, and
no one uses a stolen credit card to pay for bus fare, and
the bus route is not between mining communities in Western Australia.
