Hi everyone.

Hello all, second post as the first one - which was much longer - didnt post for some reason...

Im from hobart and do a bit of travelling for work, averaged once a month last year and it might be more frequent this year. I've loved reading all the stories etc. but I must admit that i am finding it very hard to work out the abbreviations!

Looking forward to picking your brains re packing and finding flights. Motsly fly DJ due to the fact that i own the business and have to pay for it out of my own pocket! And believe me when you live in Hobart it hurts to fly anyone else. Like most people i refuse to fly Plummet Airways, oops i mean JQ as i like to be greeted by humans not machines with unbending rules...

Glad to be here and i'll see you round.

G'day thegurio,

Welcome to AFF.

For a list of abbreviations, look at the following thread from the Your Questions forum.

Re: Hi everyone.

Hi thegurio. Welcome to AFF.

I can totally relate to this. When I first started I had no clue what anything meant. The thread Serfty posted is extremely handy but the other thing I found challenging was airport codes. This site is reasonable for looking these up Welcome to World Airport Codes but I swear by the Oneworld eletronic timetables available here so I can enter the city name in if required and also have the added bonus of seeing flights scheduled etc. This only works for OW but there is a Star Alliance available as well.

I'm looking forward to your contributions.

Cheers,
littl_flier

Re: Hi everyone.

For Airport codes I use the AA home page, book flights section. Just above the From and To dialogue boxes there is a lookup function. Unfortunately I can't link you directly to the lookup function.

Why don't you use The Airline Codes Web Site?

Or even Great Circle Mapper!

Because I wasn't aware of it Now I is, I probably will. The AA website was nice and handy whilst I was uninformed
