Cricket in the Playground

I think the Ashes series is worth its own thread here in the Playground where we can comment and discuss the highlights and lowlights (may be the same event from different perspectives) of the play.

At this moment, Punter is still there on 174 and looking strong. Great to see him leading from the front. Score is 4/423 which has set the Aussies into a position that they should not lose the match. Just hope they can capitalise on the good start and go one up in the series.

Re: Cricket in the Playground

Wonder if JQ could be persuaded to change their promo so that price reflects number of runs scored off Harmison?

Re: Cricket in the Playground

I did some quick calculations last night from the last Ashes series.

The Aussies took 93 wickets compared with the Poms taking 89 wickets.

The Aussies scored 2810 runs compared with the Poms 2962 runs.

Given that the last last match was drawn with Australia at 0/4 so basically a full innings to bat, the biggest difference was England winning the toss for the last three tests, especially the last in being able to play out the draw.

Re: Cricket in the Playground

The first test is already shaping up to be Flintoff vs. the Australians....

Mind you I have a feeling that this test could be a draw as the wicket is said to be very much a batting wicket. I do hope they dont get rain overnight tonight...

Re: Cricket in the Playground

Anderson is the first Englishman to have 100 runs against his name on the scoreboard .

And Giles has taken 25% of the wickets so far in the series.
