just went to check out the earth credit card, and found out the following new promotion
with earth: annual fee:75, u get 10000 points, and earth+, annual fee 125, u can get 15000 points.
i am intersted in the earth card, so basiclly 1 dollar per 133 points, and free qantas membership.
what do u guys think?
currently i am holding amex gold and city gold.
also i dont' care about interst rate and will no need any balance transfer. also i intend to cancel the membership after 1 year.
diesmile,
Welcome to AFF.
There is another current thread here about people who have earth cards who have or are planning to cancel their cards. This is due to the T&C being gradually watered down.
In your situation of not transferring a balance and planning to cancel after 12 months it seems OK. The only real down side that I see is the extra credit check that will show up though this may, or may not be an issue for you.

it used to be that many of the cards waived the first year fees as part of gettin you to sign up, but these seem fewer these days. You may be able to get a waiver through the bank based on spend, or as part of an overall package, but even then waivers on credit cards with awards look to be thin on the ground.

QFF membership is a "one time thing"; free if you do not live in Oz/NZ.
And, yes, point activity at least once ever 3 years will keep ones account 'active'.
