Although I would say that the CB Gold Fee Free for life is a better deal. Although the Earth does offer 0.99% for Balance Transfers and the benefit of having an Amex and a Visa.

I wonder whether the "double points" will continue after 30 November.

The 0.99% balance transfer sounds really good.

Does anyone know if previously the Earth cards offered any signup bonus like the Amex 17,500 QFF points offer?

Answering my own question, off course they did!

Old offer was 5,000 QFF points if applying before 30 Sep 2006 and $49/$79 fees per annum charged from card activation. New offer no QFF points but $49/$79 fees waived in the first year.
