    Hello AFF,
Thanks for your very helpful tips and hints. My first post here.
After my next trip, I'm 20 SC short of QFF silver. I am doing all my flying in economy. Joined QFF in Nov 08, and with a few back dated trips MEL-AKL and my continued domestics, I'm looking OK for silver by July.
I know it's better to buy into priority by going QP, but I think, I have done alright seat-wise just by flying.
I will certainly be inticed by the QP, but can't justify it for domestic and TT's every second month at best As everyone says, it's about value.
    Thanks

Welcome to AFF CoolHand...barely joined QFF and already (well, almost) up a level in status.

Hope you can stick around to swap hints and stories.

    Thank you, tuapekastar.
I find this a very friendly and honest board.
    Regarding hints:
OLCI has been my friend and I try to be as high a Seq Nbr as I can.
I'm always checking for that seat. Weird but even as NB I have been lucky. Brings into question where does status protect a seat next to you.
i.e, a seat shows unavailable, but is not occupied on take-off.
Think I have upset one pax when I OLCI to an available seat (window which I prefer), beside an obvious "business" person.
Can of worms re: OLCI and status. Can see it being eroded. On my last last flight ex-PER, more pax coming down escalators on final call from QP than "economy"/normal pax.

    Welcome Coolhand,

If you are reaching PS (350SC's) purely flying economy, then IMO a QC membership may be worthwhile as you are definitely flying quite a few segments and thus will/can be visiting quite a few QP lounges.

    Otherwise, happy flying.

Hi CoolHand, welcome to posting on AFF.

You do TT alot? I am doing this monthly - keep an eye on the "Meetings" thread, you never know who's travelling at the same time and may be able to guest you into a lounge ...

Yup I think that's a good idea, QC is cheaper than buying flights to get gold if you just barely make silver in a year (It hurts when you can only afford discount economy tix and get 10 each way!) ...

I have QC when my SG expires! and remember if you have QC and then you suddenly get SG, they put a hold on your QC and it will resume when you are PS again

QP is absolutely worth it, especialy for the amount of flights your doing. I too usually only travel in Y, and whilst the idea of paying $650 may seem a bit rich, all it takes is a few delayed flights \ early arrivals at airports (easy to do in PER especially on a red-eye) and the club pays for itself.

I'm flying TT on Tuesday ex Melb, if you'd like to see what your missing out on feel free to let me know and I'll happily take you into the QP at int...
