Interesting article this morning about the delays in opening Adelaides new airport. Seems that there are problems with the fuel system that they built. This report in the Advertiser. See http://www.theadvertiser.news.com.au...5E2682,00.html, for the resst of the article

QANTAS admitted this week it was aware of concerns about the controversial refuelling system at Adelaide Airport's new terminal two months before October's official opening.
The revelation came amid claims the delayed opening was likely to continue during showcase international events this summer, including the Tour Down Under and one-day cricket matches in the VB series.
Earliest estimates by oil companies and airlines on Friday shifted the opening date back another two weeks to January 27 – and with still no guarantee of an opening.
Qantas said its initial concerns about fuel systems were dismissed by Adelaide Airport Limited (AAL), which operates the airport. "We became aware of rumoured problems with the fuel hydrant system in August," Qantas executive general manager of airports Grant Fenn said.

Adelaide's new airport
__________________________________________________ _________
International flights have now commenced at the new
state-of-the-art Adelaide Airport terminal with domestic
flights due to begin from late October 2006.
Qantas will have over 25 check-in counters and dedicated
CityFlyer and Customer Service Desks. For domestic e-ticket
customers, QuickCheck kiosks will be introduced from
early 2006.
For added convenience, you will soon be able to drive your
car to the airport and have it waiting for you when you
return, thanks to Qantas Valet Parking.
Somehow I think the announcement was a little too early.
There have been one or two threads on AFF about this in recent months. It really is a massive debacle.
The AAL website even has a webcam showing what's (not) happening at the new terminal. I posted this link once before, but it's worth doing it again: http://www.aal.com.au/media/webcam.aspx
