Vietnam Airlines to join OneWorld?

In Saigon today the local English newspaper VietNam News reports that JAL is working with Vietnam Air to improve their systems so as to be ready to join OW.

The article does not seem to be too well researched though. It cites AA, BA, QF and Air New Zealand as current OW members.

Yes, and rebranding as "Jetstar Pacific" and boosting services on Vietnamese domestic routes - can't find link though. With JQ services to Vietnam, and JQ Pacific, I was beginning to wonder how long the QF codeshare may last.

Also announced today (I know it is only interlining) a partnership between Virgin Blue and Vietnam Airlines (complete with a play on the letter V ).

Re: Vietnam Airlines to join OneWorld?

I really think that in the future Vietnam Airlines would be a great member to OneWorld as it has more code-shares with OneWorld than any other airline alliance, BUT! It may be too late now for OneWorld as Vietnam Airlines are set to have talks with Skyteam! Hopes are well for the future for Vietnam Airlines! Hope they join one not so like MH!
