Tiger was forced to postpone its ‘proving’ flight yesterday, according to a report by Sydney Morning Herald.
Although Tiger did not reveal the reason for the delay, it is suspected that the airline is having trouble finding a ground handler in Alice Springs. The Herald also believes that Tiger is experiencing technical problems with its air operators' certificate since its chief executive, Tony Davis is not an Australian resident.
"We're just finetuning some of our ground handling [procedures] and our proving flight is going ahead next week," said Tiger's head of corporate affairs, Matthew Hobbs. "At this point in time we are confident of flying on Friday next week."
The proving flight will see Tiger carry out a flight with full crew onboard under the watchful eyes of the Civil Aviation and Safety Authority. Tiger will need to satisfy all the correct procedures for a commercial flight in order to gain regulatory approval.
Unless Tiger passes next week's test flight with flying colours, it may be forced to cancel the travel plans of thousands of passengers.

omg, im on their second day of flying (24th)

anyone else flying on the 24th NOV to the Gc

if they dont get approval what do you think they will do, compenstate us back( about 50 bucks each way), which would be bad because we would have to buy a new fare (cheapest i found was $239(same day)), or they could transfer us not JQ(not likelly), DJ,QF

    opinions.............

The may refund your money or put you on a later date: - what ever the conditions of sale state. The conditions of sale include "All domestic flights to/from Melbourne are subject to regulatory approval"

The web site http://www.tigerairways.com.au/home/index.php has an add-link for AIG travel insurance.

The only way you may get to the GC for $50, if they cancel is by hitch hiking. Time to start hitching ???

If it turns out that they cannot operate , then they will refund the fare paid. If the dates you need to travel are fixed , then you may end up purchasing another ticket from another carrier

It was your choice & risk to book a new airline that did not have approval to operate. OzJet Airlines - Home took some time to get approval

wel their conditions didn't include anything about wat would happen if they didn't get approval, well soon as they announce the delay of launch, i will rush over to JQ and book by 239 ticket cuase therse gonna kinda be like 5000 other people out there who wants to book agian as well!!!!

its a bit crummy, they should at least offer transfers, ITS THEIR FAULT THAT THEY ARE NOT READY, i wonder why there not ready,,hmmmmmm
