Tiger Announce MEL-PER and MEL-ASP

New markets announced ex MEL
PER is overnight which makes good sense and aircraft utilization...surprised it wasnt higher on the list of announcements.
ASP aslo interesting as DJ had planned to use their new EMB jets on that type of market to re-enter the centre after dumping it some time ago.
This puts DJ in a very difficult position and underlines that Tiger will cause them real grief as they absolutely depend on SME absolute best fare of the day type punters on main routes and on leisure routes Tiger prices will hurt their profitablility...

This may also put some pressure on QF, given their ASP red-e-deal fares are some of the highest on a per km basis. Compare MEL-ASP on QF $286 for red e-deal versus MEL-AYQ (actually slightly further) which is $216 for red e-deal.

$50 to Alice and $60 to Perth! Brilliant!

Good to see once again that Tiger imposes no black-out dates at Christmas and the school holidays.

Keep em coming!

It's actually $40 to ASP and $50 to PER. Even Better!

Are any of their routes not going to either depart or arrive at Melbourne?

And how many SMEs fly to Alice Springs or from Melbourne to Rockhampton or Mackay? Don't you think it very strange that they haven't announced MEL-BNE or MEL-SYD where there are actually plenty of SMEs?

Funny that New Zealand finds its way onto the map. Who knows, we may see a paw print on AKL or CHC soon enough.

Give it time they will be on the triangle.
What I was referring to is that Qantas still has a strangle hold on most of the deals with the big end of town...ie my company which provides many mil of $ a year for Dom and INT travel gets very good disc and we dont even look at DJ whereas my brother works for a SME type business of 25-75 people who insist on using the absolute best fare of the day ...this is the at risk business DJ depend on ,especially on the triangle, and I know for a fact they will move for a dollar and DJ will find it very difficult to match them. If you dont have yr corp locked into deals and are relying on price only yr introuble..JQ are in the same boat..If they were part of the QF FF scheme and not planning their own that may have protected them a bit.
All carriers will probobly be less profitable as Tiger ramp up their aircraft numbers...if they dont send themselves broke first
