Nothing new here. Similar BS when they confiscated my small (1oz) liquid in clear zip bag at BOS.

Fine to try this on as a US citizen, but as a foriegner, I wouldn't try the smart aleck routine. Just be polite and comply, no matter how inane the instruction, unless you feel it is something really extraordinary, but still remain polite and request to see a superior.

Hilarious. Good on him although I wouldn't be game enough to try it.

Aah... the wonderful TSA... as useful as always....

I wonder how much of what this guy says is truth, or whether he's just one of those "well, have I got a story for you..." people

Quite surprised today that (think it was today - lots of time zone changes) they confiscated my QF amenity set on my transit through LAX to JFK. The items were fine - I just didnt have a ziplock bag to put them in...

Don't be surprised. They confiscated mine even though they were in a small ziplock bag.

Other than this annoyance, how is your trip going?

Planning to update the trip report shortly - our time in BKK at the Hilton was lovely, we wont mention Pattaya ever again, long tiring flight to US but the business side of the US trip is going well and all set to surprise my mum in Cyprus.

I feel surprisingly unjetlagged though (mind you I do have a cold so maybe that is masking it).
