Seating on SQ A380

Now that SIA has announced their schedules for the A380, I booked this morning a business class return trip to Singapore in November utilising the A380 flights.

Obviously at this stage it's premature to expect SeatGuru to have seating recommendations for the A380 but using SQ's own seat layout information I've selected 11K for each sector. It looks like there is a mini-cabin on the A380 similar to the 777-300ER where 11K is promoted as being a good seating choice.

Hopefully in the new year when I need to visit Singapore again there will be feedback on seating recommendations for all 3 classes.

If you don't mind me asking - how much did you pay for the return trip? I am just wondering if I have to go to SIN next year I might see about a switch to SQ to see what it's like as I wont get on the QF A380 for a long time

Actually I booked a SYD-SIN-HKG-SIN-SYD flight in business class so what I paid wouldn't really be that relevent to you.

However, if you go onto the SIA website (which is how I booked my flight) and go thru the motions of making a booking you'll get an idea as the costs.

Be careful ... you might not want to go back to OneWorld after that .

Re: Seating on SQ A380

If anyone's after an A380 "R" Suite one-way on the inaugural SYD-SIN 26 OCT 2007, eBay is auctioning off the last one at about 12:24am this morning (SAT 15 SEPT AEST).

At present it has been bid up to USD$3050.00 which is a substantial saving on the scheduled one way fare 29 OCT

EDIT: The last "R" suite one-way SYD-SIN on the inaugural just went on eBay for AUD$3,752.23
The SIA website shows AUD$5.173.80 for the same leg 29 OCT.

Someone just got the bargain of the century!

I wouldn't be classing $3752 for a restricted one way SYD-SIN in 1st as the bargain of the year , let alone the century

Re: Seating on SQ A380

I would say thats a reasonable price, i think the price reflects the fact that not everybody is going to want to take a trip just for fun, most people travel with a target in mind and are not usually that flexible when they fly.

The only F flights i will ever be taking i am sure will be upgrades, i could never justify the cost, but this price is close to a full J fare.
