Revisions to xONEx rules [02NOV2008]

Whilst casually scanning xONEx rules, I chanced upon the following:

Addition of booking code 'W' for LA/LP on DONEx bookings:
Code:
 LA/LP A D/W L
Extension of "Canadian exception" to the EU
Code:
WHEN TRAVEL ORIGINATES IN A COUNTRY FOR WHICH
THE SPECIFIC LOCAL CURRENCY FARES IS PUBLISED AND
THE TICKET IS SOLD IN ANOTHER COUNTRY THE FARE
WILL BE THAT PUBLISHED FOR THE COUNTRY OF ORIGIN
CONVERTED TO THE CURRENCY OF THE COUNTRY OF SALE
          AT THE BANK SELLING RATE.
THE RESULTANT FARE MUST NOT BE LOWER THAN FROM
THE COUNTRY OF SALE. EXCEPTION -
NOT APPLICABLE FOR SALE MADE AND/OR ‡
TRAVEL ORIGINATING IN CANADA OR THE EUROPEAN
          UNION.
Rerouting before departure in TC2/3 now attracts a fee:
Code:
CHANGES BEFORE DEPARTURE

...
 ORIGIN TC2/3 -
          AFTER TICKET ISSUE - DATE/TIME/ONEWORLD CARRIER/
INVENTORY CHANGES ARE PERMITTED PROVIDED TICKETED
          POINTS REMAIN THE SAME.

CHANGES OTHER THAN TO DATE/TIME/ONEWORLD CARRIER
INVENTORY PERMITTED AT A CHARGE OF USD 125.00
          PER TRANSACTION.
No-show penalty:
Code:

Cancellation penalty:
Code:

          CLASS FARES.
          EXCEPTION -

          FARES.

OFFICIAL DOCUMENTATION FROM THE APPROVED AUTHORITY
IS PRODUCED AND ATTACHED TO THE REFUND REQUEST.
That's all I could spot atm. Admittedly I've not been paying much attention for a while so I apologise in advance if some/all these are old news.

It's more for the benefit of folks living in the EU as they can now get ex-JNB or ex-ICN tickets at the lower fare.

For us, it'd in theory open up the possibility of using AA UK or other AA offices in the EU (or TAs) to issue tickets for locations where there's no AA presence such as Indonesia. That's if any of these offices accept CC payment remotely.

I would think that the EU exception would be very useful when wanting to book travel starting from places other than Australia. Can just book with the AA ATW desk and pay through AA in London

I wonder whether part of the benefit will be from relative movements in the A$ vs. the GBP rather than the US$.

Interesting how the fare itself does not attract GST (by virtue of being international travel), but the cancellation penalty does attract GST (by virtue of being a service fee).

Or BA MRU. IIRC the mindpearl surcharge is USD35? BA MRU charges USD200 (or something along those lines) i think, as they're the only OW office in MRU which would issue xONExs.

Re: Revisions to xONEx rules [02NOV2008]

Mindpearl recently charged me USD 30 but I was very happy with the service provided.

Tal Aviation in Sweden charge a similar amount.

My ticket was issued on 31.10.08. Can anyone tell me whether these changes would apply to me - I'm particularly interested in the cancellation penalty. (Not thinking of cancelling but would like to know where I stand.)
