Re: QF Premium Economy

That would be fantastic if it could fly DXB to SYD direct - I would actually be able to use points for my parents to fly to visit me here

Re: QF Premium Economy

I just checked BA - from SYD - LHR it is about 400 pounds each way for Y and about 600 for Y+. That's not too bad really (about A$3K return).

On another point - I have a booking with QF domestic that is coming up as ecconomy restricted. It's Y class. Why would this be?

If this is on checkmytrip.com, this seams to be a common problem that some of our IT guru's could probably fix. The main thing is the code is Y class which in the eyes of QF give you ultimate flexibility.

It seems that DXB are arranging for many gates to be A380 2-level compatible.

It would not surprise at all if Qantas decide to rearrange their announced plans and schedule an A380 route Oz-DXB-<europe>

Great circle distances (miles):
SYD-LHR = 10573
SYD-DXB-LHR = 10902
SYD-SIN-LHR = 10672

So, what is 230 miles worth of fuel for an A380 worth?

To keep this on-thread, I'm already a fan of WT+ (cough, op-ups to J, cough), so QF will need to persuade me ... and I'd prefer to stop-over in SIN than DXB.

Probably not much when purchased in Dubai.

Re: QF Premium Economy

Y+ is set to be publically announced by QF within the next few weeks.

Some A380 info is available on QFlyer - Qantas Fleet Information (scroll down)
yes.. there will be some errors... alot of info to have to maintain and update!

I bet you that QF will do an Air NZ and will haul the A380s out of service and increase Y+ seat count a few times it will be a popular cabin!

Re: QF Premium Economy

For pricing, we nay get an idea based upon the surcharge from WT to WT+ on BA when flying on a LxONEx type fare. However, one media report suggests better food/wine than Y so, and of course we are talking about a new product from QF, so expect it to be a little higher.

I think that the restrictions on the flexibility of the A380 (much larger pax numbers without proportionately much higher pax baggage space) will be a good thing for all but the most dicsount whY pax - it might actually encouraged more space per pax - if only in the premium cabins.

I am really looking forward to the A380 - just hope I will be in a job where I can still fly (I had tacit approval from mrssimongr last week that the next job can have travel even if we have kids )

Considering the number of A380's ordered by the home carrier, that is not really surprising.
