Saw news item on london tv early frid. am before leaving quoting dixon (i think, was in and out of room) saying to expect qantas joining with other airline. This was not alliance but joining two into one.

Has anything been mentioned in Oz. (now in new york, with most news this wkend of Obama and his v.p. or olympics).

Dixon has said that mergers between airlines were going to have to happen.

Dixon mentioned that a merger in the next decade could be a reality. A lot of water will pass under the bridge before that will be a possibility.

Most of the talk is irrelevant as the long as the merger does involve 2 Australian carriers. Then we are in serious trouble....
