Re: Qantas launches iPhone site [merged]

I read in one of the airline magazines, in a story about how much money has been saved by getting rid of paper tickets, that airlines are now looking at ways of getting rid of paper boarding passes. The story claimed that Qantas will be introducing technology that allows your mobile device (they used the iPhone as an example) as your pseudo-boarding pass, and it comes online early in '09.

Anyone?

FYI There is a free BA app available on the App Store.

I attended the Cebit fair in Sydney at Darling Harbour. They SMS'd me my ticket which was a long digit number. To gain entry I put the face of my phone onto a scanner which read off the number.

Seemed easy.

I think they will have to have a boarding pass solution that reached to every mobile device in order to get the economies of the ubiquitous mobile phone.

Forgot to mention they still need a method so that the humble flight attendant can sort out seating problems.

There is also a free qantas app on the store as well. It is just the same as qantas.com/mobile, but there was an update the other day so it must be more then just a link to a website, I guess.

Does anyone use any of the paid flight apps?
