Now that the excellent, award winning, passenger friendly Jetstar is flying to the Philippines via Singapore, I fear for the future of the Qantas service to Manila.
Maybe Qantas are already grooming their J passengers. The Qantas muesli and danish breakfasts will certainly make Deathstar easy to switch to.

I guess you are really saying the only realistic alternative will be flying CX to the Philippines via Hong Kong.
If the service is operating with old AO crew that simply means it will be a QF 767-300 fitted with old dreamtime seats and no different to the current service. The last time i trevlled to MNL on a 747 was a number of years ago and to say it was lightly loaded was an understatment. The 767 seems a better fit for the current demand, although MNL seems to fit the jetstar MO..ie a market that isnt high yield and presumably not a big money earner

They no longer fly their own routes under the AO flight number and branding. They remain as an operating entity similar to Jet Connect, operating flights for Qantas under the Qantas branding. It seems to be a way of retaining the AO staff under their current employment contracts without having to move them into direct QF employment.
