So I'd suggest - go, but get a cheapie connecting VX flight down to LAX.

Gosh I hope so, I don't need to be reading rubbish posts any more than necessary from people who have a twisted view about who is at fault in a situation.
Ummm..... Revenge for? (This is the airline's fault how?) As far as I was aware, you book the red-edeals etc at the cheapest prices, accepting that if "stuff happens", that's it. You've booked the cheapest fare with the tightest restrictions. Last time I booked there was this 'Accept terms and conditions' box - couldn't get the ticket without accepting that. .
