I was at BNE yesterday to pick up my parents form a MEL-BNE flight and the parking (in the short term parking bays) only cost me $2 - I was there for at least 15 mins. I don't know if this is an anomaly, of if this is the normal price. I was amazed - being used to the exorbitant pricing for parking at MEL. I was expecting to pay $12 or so!

But... now that I check on the Melbourne airport site, the price of short term parking seems to have dropped significantly - using their price calculator, a 20min stay will cost me $3 in the short term car park. I am sure that previously, I have paid $12 for a similar stay.

Am I imagining things, or has the price of (really) short term parking dropped? Is that a result of the ACCC condemnation of parking prices?

BTW. I drove from MEL to BNE last weekend - 20 hours in the car and I didn't get to see one movie! The kids got to watch lots however! - here for another week and a half before the return drive and another 20hrs without any AVOD!

Yep, $2 for up to 20 mins in the Domestic/International short term parking lot. See:

Brisbane Airport - Car Parking - Domestic Terminal - Valet Parking, Undercover Parking, Car wash
Brisbane Airport - Airport Parking - International Terminal - Car Parking

Rises quite exponentially after the 20 mins (eg $6 for 30 mins, $10 for an hour), before settling down again after the 1st hour at $2/hour until 6 hours. Anything over that starts to be pretty expensive.

Also, Brisbane Airport just recently (or are about to) increase the taxi exit fee by 50% to $3. They make their money out of people quite easily..

Makes the smartpark car park great value, I used it yesterday and was also surprised by the $2 charge, go to love the lack of traffic on the raod as you exit as well, its one of the better kept secrets for BNE.

That's cheaper than a 5-min use of a trolley (I think they charged $4!) at BNE. Impressive.

Its a carpark next to QF valet that you use a credit card to get in and then it charges the card on exit, its the closest car park to the QF terminal and charges are the same as the short term! Its actually called Ezypark and is on the map here:

A good option for drop offs and pickups during peak hours as you exit onto the bus/limo road not used by the public so not crowded like the main one!

I know the entrance you're talking about. I do a Drop off and Pick up every week for SO and this would be perfect. Save me driving around and around the circus circuit!

It makes the rates for SYD airport posted earlier by Maca44 look totally ridiculous.

Yes I noticed the new charge last week. Still only $2.50 in SYD though.
