That looks really good. I don't remember ever travelling on a 707.

I do, but it had a green stripe down the side and the words "CATHAY PACIFIC" painted on it

So when does she arrive in Australia? I'd like to see her in the flesh before she retires up to Longreach.

EDIT: Never mind, she already has. Another thread here has links to photos. Looks great!

She got in a couple of days ago. Here are some pics of her coming in. Dont know if QF is going to parade her around the country before going to Longreach.

VH-XBA (was originally VH-EBA hence "X" I think) City of Canberra.
Planes like ships tend to be referred to her in the English speaking world.

Out of curiosity, how big is the 707-100 compared with current day planes (i.e. dimensionally, and pax-load)? Is a 737-800 about the same size?

I visited the qantas museum in syd aiport and their is an older gentleman that works their ( forgot his name ) who has worked at qantas a long time; took me thru the musuem on a sort of personal tour telling me his own stories and memories he was sitting next to MARGE at the home comng; so if you want to know more history visit the musuem you may bump into this guy a wealth of info & fantatsic stories, it's the ex charimans lounge.

btw too young for this aircraft i do remember my first ever journey on Ansett mt gambier to melbourne via hamilton or portland one or the other even got a big juicy steak on board the fokker. what great memories!!
