Jq lounge - ool
I'm sitting in the JQ OOL Lounge as we speak...I thought i'd shell out the $5 discounted entry and take a look, albeit reluctantly given my annoyance that QP and QF Status members aren't given free entry.
Imagine my surprise when I found that they've just taken the old OOL QP, repainted it, extended it out and plonked their name on it, but yet we're not allowed entry. It's interesting sitting here, overhearing the poor guy on reception who has the unenviable job of repeating himself all day to QP members that they can't come in without paying $25 (i've only been in here 15 mins and already i've lost count how many times i've heard of it.) As far as a lounge goes, JQ have managed to take what was one of my favorite airline lounges and turn it into a bland, overlit, boring lounge space which offers little aside from a bit of peace and quiet. I am surprised it isn't busier given the cheap discounted rate on offer, but I can only hope that if it continues to remain busy, someone at QF will pull their fingers out and give QP/Status members access like they IMHO have a right too. So anyway, the long and the short is don't waste your money, its definately not worth $25, and i'll be writing a letter to QF when I get back from my trip to express my disappointment at their entrance policy...hopefully if enough of us do, we'll get them to change their ridiculous entry policy. I suppose it depends on the time you intend to spend there, a delayed jetstar flight (imagine that) could very well make $25 for food and drink seem attractive to many. |

What a pity that they have butchered the old QP. After all - it was only recently that QF actually gave the old blue coloured QP the makeover to the standard QP theme - which was quite good at OOL. Thumbs down to JQ - especially since they have axed their BNK - MEL service from Ballina from Aug 1st.

Re: Jq lounge - ool
I would have thought so as well, but JQ is after all a subsidiary of the QF Group, the decision ultimately rests with QF.
I'm hanging out for the same, my days of driving up to BNE from the GC are nearing an end, and a lack of DJ lounge is the only thing stopping me flying them currently. Has there been any whispers about them opening one? I haven't heard anything, but given the revamped terminal, it seems an obvious move. Ultimately i'd rather fly QF, but since they no longer view OOL as a viable option, I don't see the point driving to BNE just to head to SYD/MEL or ADL. TG |

As far as I know it's only Starclass who get comp. entry meaning only the international services. They only have the one lounge and are saying that's all they'll open which I find interesting given they're putting together a membership offer for it. All they're going to end up doing is losing my business to DJ if/when DJ open a lounge at OOL as i'll have no incentive as status QF member to keep flying JQ. TG |
