Jetstar Passengers Stranded Again in Cairns and Honolulu

Jetstar Passengers Stranded Again in Cairns and Honolulu

http://www.jetstar.com/skylights/cgi-bin/skylights.cgi?module=FL&lang=auen&language=EN

Note "cut and paste" on their website totally screwed the advice to
passengers in Cairns, as it makes reference to the Honolulu stranding.

In summary:

1) 10 AUG 07 - JQ2 HNL-MEL now delayed by 24 hours and passengers are
forced to fly via Sydney rather than direct to Melbourne.

2) 09 AUG 07 - JQ63 CNS-NGO delayed by 29 hours.

No doubt about it, Jetstar is an absolute disgrace.

At the moment, JQI is on course to end up with the same reputation as Air Zimbabwe. Unfortunately their market (pax attracted by their fares) probably won't be put off, considering that the airline is cheap, and that the pax probably only fly once or twice a year.

Given the bad publicity that JQ has had, though, I think you'd have to have rocks in your head to fly with them, especially on a time-critical mission.

Is Jetstar in a weird time warp:

Huh?

Yeah Jetstar has had a few bad knocks recently. I am curious what it is though - teething problems with their planes? Their route network and low frequency meaning harder to recover from incidents? Or just their very high utilisation of their planes?

Yes the problem with rhe BKK-MEL flt a week or so ago was only 2 weeks old so yes a fleet of 6 or so planes is very difficult to swap and replace vs QF int with 25 or so 744s etc.
But it hasnt been a good week or so for any of the airlines.. DJ stranded a plane load in vanuatu for a day with a busted toilet and due to bad WX a MELPER flight took 18hrs.And this week a stupid tradesperson passed a set of what turned out to be keys to another tradie in the sterile area of Tulla and forced QF to rescreen everyone with massive delays

...and Viva Macau don't get regulatory approval in time. The Australian aviation industry has had a bad week indeed.

I agree with the first part but sadly for many of us there is no practical alternative to JQ....have a million FF points and want to take the family to Bali? Fly JQ. Live in HBA but work in SYD? Fly JQ. To be honest in over a year I have never once arrived after 09h00 at work in SYD city when coming in on a JQ flight scheduled to land at 08h05....I think that's pretty impressive, and actually surprises even me. My first JQI flight is this weekend. I'm hoping a few hours in the MEL FLounge will deaden my senses enough to last 6 hrs with them.....
