Does anyone have any experience with changing the passenger name on a Jetstar ticket?
I booked a few tickets during their $3 sale and now can't use them so I was going to pass them on to someone else. I'm trying to figure out if I would just have to pay the $40 per sector name change fee (ie making the flights $43 which is still pretty good), or if I'd have to pay $40 + the fare difference (ie making the whole excercise pointless). I'd be keeping the exact same flights so the only thing changing would be the pax name.

This is really bad but if you are desperate, you could always check them in as you, and they will have to book a full ticket for the way home.
Please don't shoot me for saying this but even the QF CSA the other day who asked to see my ID and frequent flyer card said this is quite a common occurrence, particularly when flying Qantas and only a FF card is needed.
Of course, no-one would take the risk of actually DOING this... Would they?
No, I haven't ever done it before, but there definitely are loop holes. With Quickcheck on both Virgin and Qantas, there is nothing to stop you. Hence, the lady the other day asking to see my ID as well as FF card. She told me that it is becoming a real problem, particularly with people needing to fly four segments with Qantas.
Anyway, I have managed to get us OT, sorry danielribo.

I am a little confused here - if you are only meant to need an FF card then why do they ask for ID as well? I realise its to stop people doing this sort of thing - but then why say you only need an FF card?
I used to regularly get asked for ID after presenting FF card that for the last 12 months I automatically present both at time of check-in. I wish more people would be prepared as the number of times you see pax hunting in wallets or handbags.

I'm not really sure, I guess they are just being cautious. I have no problem with it, and they only do it if you don't use QuickCheck (supposed to be most people now). If you don't use QuickCheck, then when you hand over your FF card, which used to be sufficient, they may now ask for your ID as well. Again, I managed to go OT as this is relevant to Qantas and not JQ as the question pertained to.
As an aside, I suspect the reason I got asked for ID was because I have a bit of a baby face and was checking in using a Qantas Club Card for Business Class, not really looking like QF's usual J class clientelle and I was travelling alone.

No, not really, up until the end of 2006, I was able to check-in for JQ domestic with QFF card only. As of this year, I have also been asked to show Photo ID as well.
