* higher fuel costs creating lower profits
* Hurricane Katrina exacerbating low load factors
* Labour troubles

Wonder how similar/dissimilar the SMH story is to the likely original source

This is sad. I love Delta. I travel to the US twice a year to visit my sister in SLC, which is its hub, so Delta flights are particularly convenient for me (I try to visit a few more cities while I'm there).

Delta's comfortable and the service is pretty good by US domestic standards. I hope it pulls through.
