Will July 29, go down in history as airline traveler's Stonewall? 120 passengers staged a protest aboard Continental Flight 1669 after waiting on the runway for over five hours.

So passengers began drumming in unison on the overhead bins. The crew freaked out, one steward admonished them "for destroying airline property," and eventually the police were called, who boarded the plane and disembarked the passengers Continental had said were "becoming violent."
70 of the passengers later signed a petition which said:

We did not have water, food, toilet paper.. The toilets were clogged and completely unsanitary. Moreover, there were a number of children and older and special-needs passengers, including a diabetic and a pregnant woman, who desperately needed attention.

So...how's that Passenger's Bill of Rights coming?

I recently had a co-worker come back from Houston via LAX, and the first leg was on Continental. They were already an hour late by the time the doors closed and then an announcement was made. "Could the following 25 passengers please gather their belongings and deplane via the front left door". These 25 unfortunates were immediately replaced by 25 new pax, but there was a further delay whilst bags were retrieved from the hold.

In the end about a dozen pax missed the QF connection at LAX, and initially Continental tried to brush them off by saying they should have allowed for adequate connection time. It was only after the irate pax pointed out that the scheduled 4-hour connection time was twice the allowed MCT that they started trying to find accommodation for them. This also took some time as many hotels apparently refuse to accept Continental vouchers as it takes 6-9 months for them to be paid. My colleague finally got to bed at 5am and woke to find herself in a rather unsavoury part of town. Funnily enough she couldn't wait to get back to the airport and escape.

So that just confirms that Continental joins the list of airlines I will not fly .....

How bizzare... I've never heard of pax with seats being asked to leave after actually boarding the plane. Did your collegue say why Continental pulled them off the plane?

Nope - no reason given, but it's probably more fun to make one up.

1. They were discovered to be un-American and were put on the next boat to the Bay of Pigs.
2. They were actually heading for Luxembourg.
3. They were on fake tickets sold by scalpers at the terminal.

I was on an AA flight from DEN-DFW, where someone came aboard and removed 3 pax, then an announcement was made for volunteers to get off as runway conditions had changed nd the plane could only takeoff off with less weight.

Or perhaps CO found alternate connections for them to get to their final destination quicker after that flight was delayed.
