Buying open jaw tickets online -any good sites?

Basically want to travel to HKG for a few days, then fly to SIN (or vice versa) for a few days and come back to Aus.

Don't really want to double traverse SIN airport (ie buy Aus-SIN return and nest a SIN-HKG return in the middle). It is an option though.

Buying one way fares just doesn't make economic sense. Would end up around double the normal return fare. Don't particularly like visiting Travel Agents so looking to hopefully be able to do it myself online. Not worried if I have to buy a Sin-Hkg or Hkg-Sin ticket seperately, as long as I can get the open jaw ticket.

Any good sites? I know webjet allows multi-stop itins, but I'm not sure how well that would work out for my situation.

Ideas?

Technically that is not an open-jaw itinerary. An open-jaw is when the start and end points are different, such as flying SYD-SIN-MEL.

As for where to book on-line, I can't help you there.

You could get a Qantas Open Jaw (it would be an open-jaw flying SYD-HKG and then SIN-SYD, with the HKG-SIN in a seperate booking (whether on the same airline or in this case, on CX (for your points!, on JetStar Asia, ValueAir or whichever).

The only single airline that COULD offer this open-jaw from Australia, without backtracking, is QF. Do they? Yep.

Webjet.com.au quote 1,457 using QF on a KLEE35. You can close the triangle yourself.

Webjet quote 2,137 using QF on a KLEE35 with SQ to close the jaw.

CX have some GREAT on-line deals on HKG-SIN to compete with the Low Cost boys.

QF stopped their PER-SIN-HKG flight 2-3 years ago now - that would have been your solution.

Hate to say it, but best to check with an agent as to what's available at the moment - they may be able to construct something more reasonable for you...

I booked a one way fare SIN-MEL for mrs serfty. I used the QF Singapore web site to book this. It cost SG$583 and AU$468 was billed to my Amex. It also cost 30,000pts + $142 to get her there (MEL-PER-SIN). (That was before the latest Fuel levy Increases).

One way Ex Oz with QF costs far too much; that why I used points.

Thanks guys.

Looked at this further. Can get Aus-SIN for around $1544 inc. tax and Airline imposed surcharges . I'm travelling at the end of the year so the $800ish fares don't apply.

A few hundred $$$ more and I get the return Cathay flights from SIN-HKG. One way tickets look to be about the same price as a return. (How unusual  )

Doesn't look like FF points are offered on the Cathay flights at the cheapest prices. Quite annoying. If I pay about $50 or so more, I can get the standard .5 points per mile. Don't think it's worth it!! Maybe I'll use a * partner and get some points there. United have dirt cheap flights it seems. Must have spare capacity....

At those prices might as well just transit through SIN twice. Didn't want to, but think I will.

Actually, it IS an open-jaw, just that it is a DOJ (destination open jaw) rather than an OOJ (origin open jaw).

Yes, you are right, but only if purchased as two tickets (see my next paragraph). For many fare options, it is considered a "surface sector", even if you end up flying it on a different ticket. Some fares include the distance of this surface sector in the overall mileage calculation (eg Global Explorer) and some don't. Often it is the mileage based fares include it, sector based don't.

I think what the OP is wanting is a Circle fare, where travel is A to B to C and back to A. No surface component and not really an open jaw since all sectors are adjoining and ideally on a single ticket. But it could be built using multiple tickets, with one be A-B, C-A (DOJ as you point out) and a separate one-way B-C ticket.
