Any chance??

I have an unused return leg of a paid ticket which will expire shortly.

There is not much $ value (Pth-Adl S class) in the ticket and I do not have the opportunity (or inclination) to travel in the immediate future.

The cheapest "conversion" I can do is change it to a Pth-Klg?-Pth ticket and spend a couple of hours on a Sunday morning flying up & back simply to get the 2000 points & SC.

Do you think there is any chance Qantas would consider letting me "trade" the ticket for the points without the flying meaning they could then resell the seat?

Any chance - or am I dreaming?

Sorry, think you're dreaming.

You can call and ask, but think they will politely tell you that is just isn't possible...

I would put my money on this option.

PER-ADL if you have no status is only 1318 QFF points anyway, 2000 points sounds much better.

Having just done PER/KGI/PER myself, I think you'll enjoy the trip. Have a look at my Trip Report for what I did for the day.

Of course, an up-and-back on the same plane might be more interesting to you.

As it's only 334 miles, you'll get 1,00 nmiles (min) and 10 SC's. Not much, but better than giving QF free $$$.

The other thing you can do is just cancel the ticket and start the arduous process of getting your taxes, levies and charges back. It involves some work, but you can do it. You won't get back the GST on the fare, but you will get back the airport charges (you aren't flying, so QF doesn't have to pay them to the airport, so you are entitled to them back) and the GST on those charges.

Not sure about the fuel fines, but since QF does not wish to incorporate them into the fare, and applies them on a per sector basis, my thoughts are that they *should* be refundable if you don't actually take the flight.

If you do decide to do this, prepare to be fobbed off, you will need to persevere with this.

If you go down this route like thadocta suggests, be prepared to be very patient. I hope you didn't use a TA, but rather booked on-line or at a QF Service Centre.

I finally got the QF refund from a proposed QF BNE/SIN/BNE flights for my M-i-L (dating from Sept 05), which was cancelled in late August 05 through my TA. The refund was $1,012.60 (from the fare paid of $1,439, there was a suggested cancellation fee of $475 which was slightly reduced)

Of course, QF had refunded in early December to Flight Centre Spring Hill, but my TA was away and the refund was forgotten by the other staff (not their client, so not their problem). It took me following up this week, suggesting that QF couldn't be that slow, for my TA to open my file and look in her computer to the QF statement... :x

Needless to say, that's why I chose to ditch TA's and use a 9* variety and book everything direct with AA (to save on some fees).

Thanks for the advice.

Think I'll do the up and back to Kalgoorlie (on the same plane) thing. Give me a chance to read the paper and eat back to back "breakfasts"!!
