Re: Which airlines’ Economy seat do you prefer & why (domestic 737)?

I didn't think the 737 was so unpopular. I actually find it a comfortable aircraft for short distances.

I don't think I have ever been on an A320 but if Jetstar uses them then I will be trying to avoid them like the plague....

I'll let you know a secret, I didn't fly on an airbus till 2005. I avoided them like the plague. I changes schedules, days and meetings to avoid them!! I must admit (and this is hard for me to say) I made a mistake

I will fly a 320 over a 73? or a 76? anytime - smooth ride and comfortable IMHO

Mr!

My preference is that if you can't score an exit row (or better) then B73 is preferable over A320.

I recall when AN introduced the Scarebus, I thought it was quite loud inside with lots of wails, groans and thumps from trim motors in belly/wings.

My only (and last) flight in a Deathstar A320 this year was that it was very quiet - only because they had assigned me row 294 way down the back

My first flight was in an AN SkyStar (I think they called it). I prefer the Airbus to the Boeing, but indeed they do make different noises!

JQ A320. That extra width makes all the difference. I can tolerate the lack of everything else if the width is ok.

(Before I cop flak for voting Jetstar, I find they work really well in my situation. That is, frequent BNE<>NTL. Cheap, simple, no fuss).

Well, i like the fact on QF i can (usually) get an exit row, and on DJ I have to pay extra for it!

Like-for-like, i like the QF winged seat so being able to slide it upwards and rest on it is a good feature, as is being able to sleep on it as i'm too tall (I'm 6'5") to sit any way other than bolt upright on either of them.

There's really not much in any of them - at my height, they're all bad!

(Try Click Mexicana Fokker 100 - 35" pitch ALL seats in an all economy layout! Fantastic! Even LAN A318/9 and mexicana A319s have at least 1-2 inches more room than either QF or DJ)

It's bad enough at 6', let alon 6'5". I'm with you on the winged seat, which means QF, although I did notice on my last DJ flight a winged leather seat (and a nicer leather than usual at that) that was quite comfortable. Although I do fear that the days of winged seats (at least for domestic a/c) may be numbered. Often looking through the cabin you can see lots of tall(ish) people, but very infrequent adjustment of the wings on the seat (one person every 5-6 rows perhaps). Let's hope the bean counters aren't doing a survey on this one.

The winged seat has been our standard on all new B737 deliveries for some time now and as far as I know is to continue. Being 6ft3 and travelling multiple times a week I appreciate it and will raise hell if someone tries to down-spec it.
cheers

crazydave98,

Thanks for the reassurance re this seat type. Hopefully a few doubters will pay attention and give it a go.
