AER LINGUS

The wife and I flying J from LHR - SYD in March, on BA/QF. We booked an additional flight from Dublin to LHR with AER LIngus as BA doesn't flyDUB-LHR.

AER LINGUS Can't/will notlink our bookings and will not allow more than 20k of baggage even though we're international flying J with one world.

We're both QF Gold (this flight gets me WP)

does anyone have any ideas or suggestions on how to sort this?

Since it is a separate booking Aerlingus are quite within their rights not to link to your longer trip.

The easiest way, which its probably too late for, is to have it all on one ticket. Otherwise you could change airports at London and fly BA LGW-DUB.

Whilst you can link your bookings from the BA end (so they know you are transiting from an EI flight), I agree that Kiwi Flyer that EI are probably well within their rights not to link your booking. In hindsight, you would have been able to book the DUB/LHR/SYD on the one ticket, for probably not much more (but not sure whether you might have had to fly Y on EI, do they have aircraft with J seating??).

Now that said, it may not be the best customer service on EI's part, or in your best interest as you may need to collect your bags in LHR and check-in for your LHR/SYD flight - although I thought EI and BA had an interline agreement. You may want to check on that...

On the baggage weight issue, again as it's a separate ticket, their normal economy baggage weight rules apply, as you've mentioned. Had it been all one ticket, then you'd have been OK. Again, they have you by the short & curlies...

Of course, where's Dave Noble or NM when you want them....

IIRC EI has removed business class except for some trans-atlantic. I remember taking them a year ago (LHR-DUB-LHR) when they were about to remove it. Sadly no interline despite being OW partners. Something to do with EI's low cost philosophy.

I was actually coming from ATH-LHR-DUB and had to sweat out the transfer (too much for carry-on) due to inconvenient schedules at the time.

Maybe you could get some relevant information segments inserted into the PNR's. I'm sure BA/QF would do this in respect of their booking at least.

This may be different to actually Linking the bookings.

By buying 2 separate tickets, you are limited by the restrictions of both tickets

Be aware, that EI may not interline your baggage to BA
