3 int'l flights same destination over 6 weeks

If you had 3 flights to the same destination over a short period let's say, Syd-DXB and points loyalty and flight cost difference was not an issue; would you make your carrier decision based upon:

1. Better connections/flight times
2. Best IFE (don't want to see the same movies again)
3. Best looking hosties (M and F)
4. Best meals / service
5. Wine List
6. Safety record (does anyone really look at that)
7. Spirit of adventure - try airline never flown before

A straw poll around the office (sample of 4) showed the winner was "3" and that "6" ran last.

Too easy. For me it'd be 1 but limited to those that have a decent reputation. e.g. I wouldn't take egyptair to cairo even if they did have the best schedule

Not that important.

I get bored playing games after 1/2 hour. I will only watch movies that I like not just watch movie for the sake of killing time.

M? totally out of the question. F? really don't get to spend that much time with them. Unless they were constantly doing a sing-a-song and dance, not that important

Wouldn't choose airline based on this alone. Pre-requisite though is there is an abundance of beer and spirits even if I had to pay for it. Sorry to those airlines that choose not to serve alcohol.

Very important. Two reasons why I fly Qantas, one is safety and the other is to support local economy although this is debatable now.

Quite certain that relatives of those that died on Helios airlines recently would not put this high on their list

A mixture of all of them depending on the circumstances.

Also what about miles/status?

1) Connection/flight times has some bearing. I don't want to be up at 2am for a 5am international flight. Likewise arriving at 1am isn't something I really like too much. Depends where I am going and what I want to do there.

2) IFE. Nice. Not that important though. Sleep helps when In-flight doesn't.

3) Hosties. Prefer female, and enjoy chatting to them. If they were stuck up though and pretentious then I wouldn't care. Some older ladies that have been the best hosties... Some male hosties have given great in-flight service [and no, not that type!!!]

4). Meals and Service. Kinda important. Like a good feed seeing I'm paying for it, and I have little other choice on a long flight.

5) Wine list. Not a huge wine fan. Like a good red, but as long as it tastes nice I'm happy.

6) Safety record. Have a few airlines I don't trust. Most are reasonably ok though. There are countries I trust and countries I don't trust as much.

7) Spirit of adventure. Yeah enjoy new airlines, but not if I'm going to crash!!!

In my order of preference:

6, 1, 4, 2, 7, 3, 5

(Although I think beer and spirits have been missed here... must have alcohol on the plane for long haul)

It might just be me, but isn't there an intrinsic link between 2, 4, 5 & 6 (some would argue for 3 to be in there as well).

However, for me, its 2. Good IFE helps the time pass so quickly and provides a great distrction so I don't get any work done.

As for the adventure of 7 - just trying the different food and bevies is enough for me.

Hmmm, I ranked them as follows:

6, 1, 4, 5, 2, 3 and 7

No use not getting there in the first place. To get there in the least possible time (particularly as you'll be doing the same sectors more than once) unless there was insignificant difference (in my feeling, less than 2 hours). When you're onboard, you have to eat (more important than drinking wine - it completes a meal but is not the most important part). To pass some of the time, I'm happy to have a decent choice.

If number 3 was best service (and not best looking), then it would have ranked above IFE. I find time spent with crew as more valuable than IFE. Spirit of adventure - just doesn't come close enoght to the fact that loyalty means something to me...
