The reason for the late departure of QF107 (and most other flights that day) was lightning closing the ramp. QF149 was even further delayed as it had a mechanical problem found just as boarding was ready to commence after the ramp opened after the lighting. But of course any delays for other LAX flights can be resolved during the many hours they sit on the ground, but QF107 does not get that luxury.
The ramp was closed from around 10:30am for at least an hour.
My QF19 was delayed by about 75 mins. At least I was able to while away the delay in the FLounge while watching the blue flashing lights around the ramp area.

Re: March 2008
Well we must have made up for an extraordinary amount of time enroute as we landed in SYD only 5 mins behind schedule! But we wasted some time making a v convoluted taxi as an SQ A380 had mechanical problems and was stuck on a major taxiway as a result.
"I drink it when I'm happy and when I'm sad. Sometimes I drink it when I'm alone. When I have company I consider it obligatory. I trifle with it if I'm not hungry and I drink it when I am. Otherwise I never touch it, unless I'm thirsty." Lily Bollinger on champagne

Is it 'an' A380 or 'the' A380. Do they have a second one yet
