OK, thanks. No point rushing through immigration then.
Not sure you will have much choice. Immigration shuts overnight.
When I had a lengthy delay on NZ (PER-AKL) we arrived at airport OMG oclock and immigration was shut. I asked the agent and she said they are staffed all night but only open the counters for a set time after arrivals and a set time before departures. I didn't ask but presume you can't linger airside when they want to shut up.
I must say as one of the first 2 people through when they opened up, there was no one airside (not even shop or lounge staff - QP didn't open until later).

He'll be ok if it one of the days Royal Brunei flys in! Otherwise the counters would close.

Hmmm ... there's no complimentary transfer bus between 21:30 and 05:00; If you're on the 0550 SYD flight you may need to take a taxi.
Yes they don't have a complimentary transfer between these times. I find this a little strange as I am sure that QF72 would have many passengers transiting through to WA regional airports and even other major Australian airports.
