Golf888 - please let us know what they say. My card will be up for renewal May 2009 (due to passport renewal), so I would be interested to hear what they say.

here is their answer:-
Unfortunately the clearances that make an APEC Business Travel Card (ABTC)
valid expire after 3 years. This means that we need you to complete a new application form allowing us to resubmit your details for new clearances.
A new application will go to all economies currently active within the scheme. About 4 months prior to your current expiry will be fine.

China are now processing quickly, and generally come through within about a month.
Dot, you don't have to renew the card when renew your passport. Just advise them of your new number and your amended APEC card (with original expiry date) will be sent out a few days later. The only real problem is if you have to travel almost immediately after getting your new passport, as happened to me. All I did was to take the old passport with me and the card was accepted in both Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. Mind you these are two places where you hardly even need such a card.Originally Posted by dot
Hey thanks sully. I figured since it was tied to the passport, a new passport wouild mean a new card. It will only buy me 8 months, but thats better that doing both at once...Originally Posted by sully
fyi... update...
received letter to renew the card.. that's about 6 months before expiry...
i have applied for new card since first one expired. an email came thru asking more information which i promptly replied to. i called canberra today to ask about my application and was told it was being "vetted". have any posters had their renewal application rejected? if so, why?
Can't add much...
Heard that it is getting tougher both to get a new card and to renew..... many questions being asked.....
