APEC BTC and entry to the US

It seems that not all ports (or possibly points of entry within ports) know about the Card. When I entered via the UA terminal at SFO at the end of November the Crew Lane was clearly signposted for APEC BTC clearance. However this morning at the UA terminal at LAX there was no sign-posting, and the surly Immigration officer at the Crew Lane scolded me for what he clearly thought was me pulling a fast one - and sent me back to the Visitor queue, which by then had a further 200 passengers in it - and only 3 Immigration officers to clear the line

Does anyone have a positive LAX experience?

Re: APEC BTC and entry to the US

I'm going to be going thru the UA LAX terminal in the coming weeks and I was interested in wanting to know if the Immigration people there have got there act together. From your experience it would seem that they haven't.

Would it not have been appropriate to ask the officer to check with his supervisor?

He offered that I could wait and I could consult with his supervisor when the supervisor turned up (no promises on when that might be)! He certainly wasn't volunteering to put himself out (despite all the signs about how they recognised that this is the first contact visitors may have and all that other mission statement bulls**t that seems so prevalent these days)

I'm wondering if it might be a good idea to carry a printed copy of the following web pages:

Remarks at the APEC CEO Summit

APEC Business Travel Card (ABTC): Frequently Asked Questions

Re: APEC BTC and entry to the US

I'm travelling to LAX tomorrow on UA840 & it will be the first opportunity for me to use my APEC card for entry into the USA and going thru the crew-only line at the United Terminal.

Hoping that the immigration official on duty there is au fait with the card but just in case I've printed off a few relevent web pages to have handy.
