Qantas CC FF advice needed

Hello everyone,

I have joined today as I stumbled over this site whilst looking for a new card. I apologise in advance as I'm not farmiliar with the site....I just hope I'm posting this in the right place (mods, feel free to move to a more appropriate location).
To get to the point I am after a new card. I am not a frequent flyer however I do save my points to use every year or two to take my family on a holiday.
I own a small business and spend around $7000.00 every month on my current card. It is no longer a valid Qantas FF card so I need a new one.
Any advice would be muchly appreciated!!

regards, thing

Hi and welcome. I asked a similar question myself, and got this answer from MAL.... (thanks Mal, that was very helpful)

Re: Trying to work out which card?
An interesting (non-biased) report to read is the Cannex (now Canstar) Credit Card rewards Star ratings:

Credit Card Rewards, compare credit card rewards points with Star Ratings

While their methodology won't match other people's spends on cards, I find their data an interesting view into the various cards on the market.

Another part of their site that I really like is their Credit Card Star ratings, which similarly ranks various credit cards and their perceived value :
Compare Australian Credit Cards & interest rates with Star Ratings

They've also recently added a daily updated version of their credit card data, which shows current interest rates etc.

Welcome to AFF thing!

I have an ANZ Gold QFF Visa (1:1 up to $2500 spend, then 1:2 up to $10000 spend, plus bonus points with partner spends).

I'm unsure how it rates against other cards (something I should have checked out long ago, and still should)...but I'll confess the main reason I posted is to find out how Gomez and Morticia are getting on.

Thanks guys for your replies!

I have now learned that my new suppliers accept only Mastercard and Visa, so which card is the best for me? Also what if I got a Platinum Amex card and then paid off my Visa/Mastercard card with it, does that work?

No it doesn't. you can only pay off your amex via bpay from a bank account or cheque or cash..

Oops sorry nlagalle, I did mean pay off my Visa/Mastercard (I originally said Amex) card with my new Amex. But I think you knew what I meant anyway, please confirm.

I don't believe amex are doing balance transfers at the moment. There has been some discussion about it in the amex forum.

Amex have ceased balance transfers on existing cards. I believe Amex is still offering balance transfers at 6.99% for the life of the balance on new card applications.
