Hi Samba
It is a good idea to give more info if you require useful reply.
Here's my suggestions:
Look for special offers - Due to SARS there are some discounts available. One example from BA (using Asia Miles) is below - straight from Asia Miles web site.

Fly British Airways World Traveller Plus for 40% FEWER Asia Miles

Now you can enjoy the comfort of British Airways World Traveller Plus -- with a wider seat and seven inches of extra leg room -- at a special discount of 40% fewer Asia Miles:
Fly British Airways World Traveller Plus Normal redemption 40% fewer Asia Miles
Round-trip between Hong Kong/Beijing - London 72,000 Asia Miles 43,200 Asia Miles
Round-trip between Singapore - Sydney/Melbourne 54,000 Asia Miles 32,400 Asia Miles

If you have an AMEX card, you can transfer points at the rate of 1 Asia miles for two AMEX points. I think Diners also does the same.

If you stay in a partner hotel (anywhere in the world) you will get 500 points per stay. You need just 3 stays ; - ) Also look at car hire etc.

If you live in HK there's a whole load of mobile phone and other offers. Visit the Asia Miles site.

wow~ you are indeed an travelling expert, arun!
Hey, how about the purchasing the Asia Miles gift miles? I've heard that Asia Miles is offering bonus miles upon purchasing.
Is it a good deal?

Hi Samba.
I am flattered. But to be honest, there are more people in this board who deserve that title!!!
I checked the website, but I could not see anything re: purchasing miles.
Probably you should just call them and ask.

Hi all,

samba, I think there's something like gift miles for Asia Miles. The idea of which is similiar to purchasing miles that you are looking for. Here is the link: http://www.asiamiles.com/am/1,,89235_94020_eng_,00.html
Hope this will be useful to you.

Thank you all of you~

It's really nice that I can get another ticket for my bro by topping his Asia Miles account by "gift miles" rather than buying a ticket. Also, I paid less because of the bonus miles they offer within the promotion period.

I could have saved more if I transferred the credit card points to Asia Miles account, but I don't have any of the partner credit cards. I think I'm going to to apply for one. Is there any suggestions?

Anywayz, thank you for your helpful advice!

As far as I know, in Australia, American Express allows transfer of points to Asia Miles. However, it is at 1 Asia Mile for 2 Amex reward points ie in a way 1 point for spending $2.00 on the card. Where as for QF you can transfer at 1 for 1.

However if you are thinking of topping up, it might suit you.
