Missing Miles

I'm interested in knowing if others have had the same problem that I have had in recent times where having flown on SIA, mileage is not being automatically credited to another Star Alliance FF program such as UA MileagePlus.

For several trips now up into A/P on SIA, although having confirmed that my UA FF number is in the booking and my boarding pass was clearly imprinted with "UA*G" the mileage credits haven't been received and I have had to resort to sending a letter into Mileageplus to have them chase up the mileage credit for me.

For my most recent trip where I flew Sydney-Singapore-Manila-Singapore-Sydney, I received the mileage credits for Sydney-Singapore-Manila but the return sectors have still not shown up in MP account after two weeks.

It looks like another letter to UA for missing miles.

SQ normally credits reasonably quickly to partner FFPs, although I've never done it with UA Mileage Plus.

A few things to check.

1. SQ flight is not a cheap economy fare that doesnt earn miles (and no other sectors on the same itinerary that are in cheap economy fare class)

2. You are in fact UA*G - since the BP doesnt show FFP#s apart from any KrisFlyer one, the airline and status is the only indicator (on the BP) whether or not it has the right number entered. Of course it could still be wrong and that number also has UA*G status, but if you are say *S and the BP showed *G that would indicate wrong number is entered.

3. Do you have a Kris Flyer number printed on the BP? Its possible the miles went there instead - they shouldnt if UA*G is showing as this indicates status on earning FFP as opposed to PPS or KrisFlyer status.

Actually as far as the booking goes my UA MP # was in the system ok because for the flight I did from Sydney to Singapore and the Singapore to Manila sector that I flew only 3 days earlier they appeared in UA MP account almost straight away.

There obviously appears to be a "bug" in SIA's system for transferring mileage credits to partner programs and I wish I knew who to contact about it. UA say it's not their problem and are only too happy to chase down the missing mileage credits for me although they say it can take up to 3 months to come thru

Each sector can have a different FFP entered.

For the flights SYD-SIN-MNL, was the FFP entered at time of purchase (by you or your TA), or only at check-in when you showed your card? If only at check-in then they will have entered it only for the sectors travelling that day.

As you want to earn miles on Mileage Plus you can only give them the info they require (most FFPs want BP and ticket - original not copy) and let them deal with it. Contacting SQ wont help.

I bought the ticket online thru the SIA web site and at the time of booking I included my UA FF number.

Also, when I checked-in (online via the SIA web site - great system, I love it) I was prompted again to enter my FF number for which I entered my UA # again.

When I physically checked in and was given my boarding passes, each time they were imprinted "UA*G".

Somewhere in the process things have gone astray.

I intend to but it's annoying that SIA seems to keep screwing things up.
