Tried to signup tonight for the third time. When I plugged in my details, it said I already had an account. So logged into it.
0 points and no activity. Supposedly that should change to 9000 within the next 3 days, or at least that's what the FT experts are saying. Others apparently saw the 9000 points pretty much straight away, so perhaps it has all gone wrong.
Edit: Logged out of my account on BMI, then re-clicked on the link from their homepage for the offer. Logged into my account on the offer screen, then confirmed all of my details again from what I had put in earlier and submitted. It then logged me into my BMI account with the following entry:
So according to the BMI experts, this will convert to 9000 points overnight/in the next few days.
I got through the six or so pages only to be told the server was being maintained, and on subsequent attempts, told I had an account. No amount of coaxing, or following Mal's 9,000 point recipe above worked. Maybe it has gone wrong !!

Worked for me on the third try. Each attempt was about 12 hrs apart. Unfortunately many Air NZ discount flights (LGSKP buckets) do not earn miles. Earning on NZ, as a * airline, would be the most use for me.

I know it depends entirely on flight and redemption plans, but is this a reasonable StarAlliance FF program? For someone who might infrequently (say, once per year or less) travel J on SQ?

How many times did you provide credit card details? Interesting to see whether the membership fee get charged more than once.

I think it is a very reasonable *Alliance FF program. For the infrequent flyer it is much better than SQ or TG and on par, possibly better, than OZ or UA.

Credit card? Joining fee? Those things didn't even come up during the application

Certainly as an infrequent *A user, SQ or TG were of little benefit to me, expiring before I got anywhere. At the moment I am UA, but if BMI is any good I can go there

I can't find reference to it either. There is the ability in the T&C's to implement a fee (like most other T&C's for loyalty schemes), but I still can't find any evidence that there is a joining fee. Definately no CC request during signing up.
Hmm, maybe it just doesn't like me. Were you two goes on separate accounts, or on the same one?
By two goes, I meant that the first one ended in an error message just before the final page saying that there was site maintenance going on. The second time it went right through to the end and my DC number appeared at the end.
Joining fees? Certainly none of that malarky that seems to be the pervue of QF and NZ loyaltly programmes.
