How do you track your points

With regard to hotel/airline/car rental points primarily... not so concerned about ccard tracking.

Currently, I keep my boarding pass/rental docket and hotel receipts in a little spot on my desk until I see that they have posted, then I throw the docs away once I have seen it post. (or file if needed)

What systems do you use to determine that you have received what you are entitled to?

It seems that this little system is working, but curious to know what others may do..

Re: How do you track your points

I keep all boarding passes in one of the old Lufthansa canvas draw string business class amenities bags, and put an elastic band around each months passes.

I have to submit car hire docs for expenses but use Avis preferred, which is pretty good for posting. I just don't bother chasing 500 miles here or there. Currently have 34,000 missing miles with AF and can't be bothered chasing them.

Currently have about 1.7 million M&M points, and will earn another 700 thousand plus before a holiday in November. I also have enough hotel points for about 2 months free accomodation.

Re: How do you track your points

I am not as organised as others and I just dump most receipts anywhere. I don't travel that often so it is easy to check on the QFF account if flights, accommodation, car hire, duty free or any other points have posted. If they haven't posted then I do a frantic search to try and find the receipt and send it through to the QFF service centre.

Even with my chaotic filing system I have never missed getting points for any qualifying activity.

Re: How do you track your points

I have learned to my cost that if you don't keep a copy of your ticket (including etickets) UA won't follow up on missing miles, particularly for parner flights, which are the ones that usually go AWOL.

So, I now file all my ticket details electronically on my computer.

As for boarding passes, for each trip I put them all in an envelope at my last overseas port of call, and then mail them to my home address. For example, if I am flying CBR-MEL-PER-SIN-NRT-HNL-LAX-IAD-LHR-IAD-LAX-SEA-NRT-SIN-PER-MEL-CBR, as I am next month, I will mail the BP's to myself from Singapore. There is even a post office airside at Changi airport to assist in this process.

When I get home I just file the envelopes in case one of the boarding passes is needed at some future time.
