It appears that this passenger is eating a special meal - ie they have put in a special meal request - that sort of food normally comes with more bagging and wrapping than the normal food. Also, some crew don't want to overly touch a special meal to risk contaminating it.

So somebody's complaining about airline food. What's new?All I can say is that I flew VS to LHR last year (In Y) and the food was great and I didn't have any problem with the IFE,(Except trying to send an inflight sms-that just didn't work).

I'm going to have a small whinge here and make the point that some ropey food does not necessarily make a "trip from hell". I'm all for a bit of poetic license/dressing up a little to get some compensation, but trip from hell? No-one died, no-one got injured, just the guy got served a dodgy meal.
What is it, an 8/9 hour flight?

The passenger in question has probably been reading all of the 'compensation' threads on FT, where passengers boast about seeking (and receiving!) recompense for even the slightest deviation from their expectations.

Perhaps the passenger ordered the "Asian vegetarian' meal on a whim during the booking process, and then had no idea what the hell was on the tray when it was put in front of him?

In any case, I'm sure that Sir Richard didn't get to read the passengers' comments, and even if he did, I can't imagine that he would have given a flying diddly butterscotch.

A trip from hell would be good - because you'd be going to a nicer place. How you got yourself to 'hell' is no concern for the airline which takes you to another place.
