Jetstar Web Checkin

Hi guys,

Just wondering whether anyone's used this feature before.

I have tried on 2 separate occasions (different itineraries) to check in on their website.

Unfortunately it always comes out with the following:

We are unable to check you in. Please check the details you entered and try again.

I called them several times today, replied by saying there's nothing wrong with their system. But no explanation.

This isn't an isolated case (well...may be isolated to affect me only but that's what i'm here to ask), so i'm wondering if anyone's experienced this, and how to go about checking in without first going to the airport. Reason being i'm pressed for time, and might miss the closing time for checkin at the airport.

Thanks.

benhadi

Yes.

But I do JQ-OLCI so rarely (only when in a situation similar to yourself) that I don't have enough experience to make a guess as to what variables might cause it to happen.

Actually, I just tried to OLCI for a weekend flight & it found the details quickly, and it offered to check me in, well before the 24 hour mark (go figure). NB: I didn't follow through, as I am not intending to fly that segment.

I decided Jetstar's computer systems were stupid a long time ago. They still haven't fixed the newish "My Bookings" interface on their home page, that quite simply hasn't worked - ever. (It always sends you to the old MMB page, where you have to enter your details all over again. And I spoke with someone in their call centre once, who had exactly the same issue with her personal flight. And... I notice that as of today, it's still not fixed. Go figure.)

As for a suggestion... maybe ring the call centre again, get them to log onto jetstar.com, tell them all the details and get them to type it into OLCI, to see if they get the same issue. (Of course, if they don't, they will have successfully checked you in, even if you don't have a boarding pass.)

Re: Jetstar Web Checkin

Whilst I had made my mind up many moons ago that i would never fly Jetstar again, I gave in recently when I needed to fly at short notice & they were the only airline I could get cheap fares. In both directions, I had exactly the same problem. However on the forward journey I eventually was able to print boarding passes at home, the return journey was different. Despite entering the info, was unable to print. When got to airport, auto check-in still wouldn't print, go to check-in counter! In other words join the bloody long lines!

I have used the OLCI several times, including this week, without any problems. I have experienced the same problems with the My Bookings section of their website that Fluid-Flyer mentioned.

Used OLCI for yesterday's flight from HBA -used bag drop as I needed to check bags.

Good thing I did use OLCI (or was able to)! The queue at the check-in counters 65 minutes out from the flight was 50 people deep. There was a separate (empty) queue for those with pre-printed OLCI BP's - straight to the counter and it took about 1 minute.

(... there's no status benefits when checking bags for JQ flights )

You can also check in at the Qantas Club which I did last night....we didn't have check in lugagge; I wonder if you can check in at the QF club if there's a long Q at the J* counter, and then go to the bag drop counter if you need to check bags?

I did OLCI successfully for my JQ flight last Friday as I would be arriving at the airport late, and possibly after the 30 minute check in deadline.

Should not be a problem; the bag-tag receipts were simply stuck to my A4 printed sheets.

Theoretically you could i suppose, but the intention of checking in the baggage (ar at least part of the reason) would be because it is either too big or too heavy to carry on. SO unless you have somebody looking after it while you enter the sterile area and into QC to checkin, i don't see how it's possible to bring your intended checkin baggage through the security, into QC to checkin, and out again.

But i may be wrong about this. Anyone actually tried this before?

I was HBA where the QP is landside.

If your case will fit through the x-ray machines you can take it Airside in Oz.
