To all those how have had their citibank points capped. How long after notification did they cap your points .I have just received notification on my last statement that 60000 is the points cap for the year even though I am way over. Do I need to apply for yet another piece of plastic. Maybe a Citibank Mastercard?

There are a nuber of people on the board that have had their points capped ( I haven't but they did reduce my interest free days on another rule ). If they have given you that notification, then I would imagine that a capping is coming your way, but I would have thought they would have outlined the details in the notification.

Yes I have been capped as soon as it reached the 40,000 cap limit on my silver card - no more points on purchases.

Ergo, no more purchases on that card. If those clowns ask why, tell them.

One 9 have you ever had the text
"A maximum of 60,000 Reward points can be earned each anniversary year. Please see the Rewards Terms and Conditions for more information"
appear on your statement. On page 1 underneath the "summary of your reward points since last Statement" Just above the remittance advice section

    Re: Points capping

I had a fee paying silver card, and I was earning points like points falling off the sky. I did this for many years, without being caught by Citibank.

Switched to the free for life gold card last year, and was caught immediately. I am starting to suspect that Citibank is only coming down on people who are not paying annual fee.

I am not sure what the criteria, people on the plat card have been capped while paying fees, while others have not been. But certainly, I would expect that they are more strict of fee free cars. But when you look at the rates they are getting, some of the cost of buying points must be coming out of the annual fees.

I haven't noticed it, but I don't spend too long reading the extra information. A few members on this board have mentioned that they have been capped at a lot less points that what I have earned, so I am always ready for them to cap my card. I suspect that the capping must be manually done as it seems to be inconsistantly applied.
