What's VIVA like in economy?

I'm def considering this as an alternative to an award HKG-SYD in QF which is 30K points plus (Viva's entire fare in) taxes

Almost indistinguishable from international Jetstar in economy.

Re: Sydney to Macau $99(+160) each way.

Flew in August during typhoon season. The day before, a flight was cancelled, so the flight flying to Macau was full. But on return flight, the plane was half full (or less). Just need to be cautious if flying during those times, cos your ferry or flight may be affected by the weather.

Otherwise, the flight was okay. Service was adequate, food was reasonally priced. No entertainment available, so bring your own. Worth saving the dough and using the difference on casinos or shopping. However, there are whispers that the airline may be in financial trouble, and u run the risk that it may not survive till your flight date (but thats with all airlines in current economy)

I've been told that the aircraft on the Sydney route is Ansett's original (first one delivered) 767-100 series. Can anyone confirm this?

Ansett did not operate 767-100s. They did however operate a fleet of 767-200s. I understand Viva Macau uses a 767-200 (B-MAV) on all of its Sydney services. A check of the frame's history suggests that it did not operate with Ansett. Click below for more information:

Viva Macau B-MAV (Boeing 767) (Ex CC-CDH CC-CEX XA-RVZ)

Next Airline to go: Viva Macau. Still waiting for that "next airline", but Im certian it will be Viva. Load factor on this route is quite shocking also.

Time will tell....
