However many runs England makes in their first innings is the cost of the return fares in pounds. However many runs Australia makes in their first innings is the number of tickets that will be available for that price.

So England is currently at 317 with three batsman left to be removed before their innings is closed. So if Warnie gets a hat-trick in the first over of the morning, the fare could be as low as 317 pounds.

Thanks. Also, are the tickets one way or return? I suspect it is one way.

They are Return.

See T&C at https://www.britishairways.com/trave...s/public/en_gb

NOTE: These Terms and Condtions are if you are in the UK. I couldn't find the T&C's on the Australian Website. However I presume the UK rules would be the same as the AUS rules.

Anyway's if you want to travel:

"A phone line dedicated to the Ashes offer, 1300 767 177, will open at 9am AEST Monday and tickets will be restricted to a maximum of two a caller."

So the fare is going to be 373 pounds. Now to find out just how many seats to be sold at that price - at least 112 as at tea when bad light stopped play.

Any updates on how many tickets will be available?

Also, anyone know if there are any date restrictions? Ie. Can only fly between these dates (etc).

And with the fall of the first Aussie wicket (at 180 runs) and rain halting play about 20 mins ago, I'd think BA are increasing the discount they are going to give the market. However, with their brilliant marketing coup that saw them grab front page space for almost no cost, they are still a looong way ahead.

One good way to get bums on seats after the catering disaster  .

Anyone bother trying to get a ticket? My flight landed just after 9am and I forgot to make the call so either way I figured I missed out.

And it seems that VS is also trying to get into the act. According to this posting on another BB:

VS is taking $20 off its $1760 SYD-LHR return fare for every wicket Warney takes in this Ashes series. Before the start of the 5th test, Warney has taken 28 wickets, so the discount is already $560. In the 1st inning of the 5th test, Warney took 6 wickets, so that's another $120 off.

The number of tickets available will be calculated in a similar way (ie: 20 tickets for every Warney wicket). Bookings available from next Tuesday.
I don't have the paper to verify the info, nor could I find any reference on the VS web site. But this type of promotion is what I would expect from VS.
