Simple. Melbourne and Adelaide are Tiger Airways hubs, and Virgin Blue are doing sales to Melbourne/Adelaide.

Seems they sparked the whole ordeal with some $19.95 fares, plus they threw an ad in todays Herald Sun. They finally have an advertising Budget!!

That's my thoughts. Call me a cynic but why give a permanent reduction in fares when you can offer them on sale!

My first 'out of my own pocket' fare was 2005, and it's certainly the cheapest I've ever seen them on QF.
