No...silver.... and out of interest I thought I would check in the boot... and sure enough there were copies of all the previous rental condition reports (no personal details) under the mat covering the spare tyre.

Postscript - thought I would try Hertz Perth again, no issues with fuel but the gouging has occured in another area:

Charged: H KM/MI In: 24,903
Rented: H Out: 24,700
Reserved: A Travelled: 203

They upgraded me then charged me for the upgraded car, I am entitled to a free upgrade as Presidents Circle and dont mind paying if I am given the choice to go to an attractive alternative, in this case I was not even asked!

To get this rectified, it generally helps to call the the rental agency directly. In this case the Hertz Perth depot. Most locations generally fix it on the spot (rather than having it go via HQ and get a blot on their record).

I did just that, wanted to highlight to others however what to look out for when contemplating a Perth rental

docjames,

Read back a little further. The problem appears to be 'Perth' and not just Hertz Perth. Other have had issues with different rental companies. My issue was with Europcar.
