Red face Re: October 2008

I will have an 8 hour transit stop in LHR terminal 5 on October 6th (ETA approx 0530) after flying from HK to LHR enroute to PHX.As I have been unable to book a BAA lounge in the other terminals due to security,I am trying to be guested into a BA Lounge in Terminal 5. I am a QF FF but not a Club member.
The thought of 8 hours or more stuck in a transit lounge is enough to make me consider cancelling my trip.
If anyone can assit me into a BA Lounge I would be most grateful and would happily pay your cab or XPress rail into London in return.I am a mature age and respectably presented Australian male travelling alone.I promise not to be a pest to anyone.
Failing this it looks like a prayer room for me.
Thank you
Bert

Good to meet you Mark. It is a shame I got there a little late after golf but you did find me at the computers surfing AFF wearing a black jacket and drinking a vodka & orange.

8 hours should be enough time to quickly pop into London. That's what I would do. Choose something you want to do there, catch the tube or Heathrow Express (or regular trains) into London and do it. Just ensure you're back at the airport ~2-3 hours before your flight. Should give you about 3 hours -4 hours to do something rather than wandering around the terminal.

* note that some airlines have restrictions over passengers leaving the airport during transit stops.

et tu.

Found John K having just filled up on some of the hearty pies that had surfaced on the dot of 5pm... We had a brief chat on all things FF

Was quite impressed with the food in the J Lounge... less so with the wine - when half the bottle are two buck chuck (aka Yellow Tail) am not going to be happy.
Also got a very very cold bluetongue at the J Lounge. So cold that it had small ice crystals in it!!
HAd an interesting flight Syd-Per in the import A seat (25 J plane) behind a very senior member of the Catholic Clergy. Must reccomend the Cookoothoma botrytis that was served.

The pies at the Syd J Lounge were somewhat better than those that I found in the PER QP the following evening (warning on the cheese filled pies -- the cheese is extremely dangerous -- it burn't my upper lip)
